version 2 and 3 can run at the same time on all computers. To run version 3.5 with an earlier 3.x on windows, install the earlier 3.x and use the 3.5 portable from https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/releases/download/v3.5/MuseScore… (which will immediately start a download if you follow the link :(
There may be different needs for Mac and Linux.

You can run one 1.x, 2.x and 3.x each at the same time, you can install as many as you like.

On Windows it is possible to run an installed version and a portable app of the same major version at the same time, if started in the 'right' order (portable app first IIRC)
With Linux you can use several MuseScore versions by using the corresponding AppImages.
Personally, I would find it useful to run two installations of 3.5. Each with different sound fonts. It's a pain to switch between SFZ and sf2.

You can do that. Install 3.5 and use the 3.5 portable at the link I posted above.
