Add a hairpin on a note and a dynamic on the next note. If you move one, you move the other. It's possible to make them move independent if you turn off auto placement on one of the items. The problem with this is that there are times when you don't want auto placement turned off on either item. You are stuck making a choice you don't want or being forced to use a spacer to fix auto placement being turned off.

Permitting these items to have the option of moving independent would remedy this situation.

Workaround No Yes

This was done on purpose by popular request right around the time of 3.0 release, so that hairpins and dynamics would stay aligned by default even if you needed to make adjustments to one or the other. We realized at the time there might be situations where you'd want to defeat this. In some of those cases, disabling autoplace is a totally reasonable workaround, in other cases not so much. But there is another workaround here: enable "allow diagonal" for the hairpin. It's kind of an accidental that this works, but we kept it that way on purpose once we realized it provided another workaround for this use case.

Eventually I could see a separate property to control alignment only. Could also be useful for things like lyrics, pedal lines, and chord symbols, to exempt something from alignment without otherwise disabling autoplace.

Setting allow diagonal is a good workaround for the time being. Since it's rather easy to move the hairpin using x offset, there's less chance of accidentally making the hairpin look skewed.
