In MuseScore 3, the dynamics on the Grand Stave are a little funky - any dynamics on the bass line override the dynamics of the treble line. Don't know if this is just a "me" problem or software problem (note: software was provided by a school, which means updates are blocked).

This is by design. On a grand staff dynamics affect both staves by default. If you want a dynamic to only affect a single staff, select the dynamic, open the inspector (F8) and set the Dynamic range to staff.
