The ability to add comments would be very, very handy for education purposes.

Highlighting would also be useful (I know this has been previously requested.)

It may even be that a text style "Comments" may do the job, especially if it could be filtered + auto-coloured.

And: a list of all comments + the bar numbers/staves to which they are attached able to be generated.

Meanwhile, the way to do this now is using palette customization, just set up one staff text the way you like (I have red text on yellow opaque background) and add it to your palette. You can't also toggle their display or get a list of them, but it does give you a pretty easy way of adding them anyhow.

For highlighter, I also have a 4sp thick semi-transparent line in my palette I can easily add to any selection region.

I've provided a workspace you can download and install to get these and other useful things for education - see https://school.masteringmusescore.com/courses/educational-partnership/l…

But yes, someday it would be nice to have more direct support for this. There was a project for Google Summer of Code to implement this (and for text, it did use the experimental layers functionality), but it didn't get very far.
