Embedded repeats?

• Nov 11, 2020 - 04:42

Hi:
I'm new to music but, in the last few months, I've come a long way..
Yeh, so I've simplified the attached score but I'm puzzled the not being able to "embed" a repeat - is there such a thing...

Firstly, in the attached, Line 1&2 is the same as line 4&5...
I'd like to be able to say @line 1, play line 4&5
or alternatively say @line 4, play line 1&2. I've tried the different D.C. and D.S. but I just can't get it to go....

Secondly, when it does play back (and executes the ending D.C.), it doesn't do the repeats like when it goes through the first time...

I know I'm being pedantic but it's all part of the learning curve, so please forgive me.

Thanks...

I think by imbedded repeats you mean nested repeats that will look like

||: a b ||: c d :|| e f :||

with the hope that someone will be able to comprehend where the end repeat tells the musician to repeat to. This doesn't work in MuseScore and nearly all musicians on this site will discourage from trying to put it in a score.

As for DC, click the DC, open the inspector (F8) and check the play repeats button and repeats will be honored during the DC section.

You can't nest simple repeats. What looks logical and simple which e.g. nested parens in math is not supported by MuseScore for repeat barlines playback and is also not what musicians would understand.
