Palette query field doesn't respond to normal text actions like drag select or double click

STEPS to replicate:

• View>Palettes
• Type some text in the query field located above the palettes.
• Try double clicking the text or dragging to select.
Result: Neither of these actions has any effect.

Update: And if I exit the field there's no normal way to dismiss the text. Clicking in the field shows no cursor and pressing delete afterward has no effect. Workaround: My only workaround is to close the palettes and reopen. Or click the X button, which is quite unintuitive.
