You probably clicked the play repeats button on your toolbar. It looks like an end repeat barline.
Or are using MuseScore 3.5.0 in continuous view

I would be quite shocked if she installed 3.5.0 in mid December.

Very possible.
Or you have voltas in your score and have them overlapping (for example on multiple instruments). This is a bug and fixed for the upcoming 3.6

Also mention what version of MuseScore, and your OS (operating system).
