Can I do MIDI "channel assignment" in MuseScore?
I'd like to create some very simple vocal exercises in MuseScore and save them as standard midi files. Then I would like to import them into a program called SingingCoach. In order for SingingCoach to display the melody correctly, the melody track has to "assigned to channel 4". Can I do that in MuseScore?

You can't do it now.
I worked on assigning midi channels to instruments this summer. I am testing this feature now, and I hope it would be available in beta 2.

Nope, Beta 2 is not yet available, nor are igevorse's changes merged yet into a nightly build

I too would really love to write simple sight reading exercises for young singers and for teaching them to sing harmonies.
I'm looking forward to this being possible very soon.
