Scroll wheel or equivalent touch gesture (e.g., two finger swipe) is, as explained in the article, the way to navigate. The way to add things depend on the things :-). Best to look over the Handbook for the specific things you want, but to get a basic overview, see this tutorial I produced several years ago that is still relevant today:
