how to remove notes from the score

Simply select them and press Delete. They will be replaced with silence = rest - leaving all other notes exactly where you entered them. if you actually want to move some unspecified number of other notes, no need to delete anything first, just select the notes you want to move and cut & paste them to the desired location.
