Centering dynamics between the 2 staves in a piano score

• Feb 26, 2021 - 21:15

I've been writing a whole bunch of scores for multiple pianos and there's been this one problem nagging at me. In most scores, I see dynamics in the center of the 2 staves, making it look nice and symmetrical. How can I do that here? I've attached a screenshot of what I'm trying to say.

I want that crescendo to be in the middle of the 2 staves but the only choice I have is to manually move it, which looks kind of ugly and I can't properly match it with other crescendos in the score.

Thanks for your help!

P.S. this is the first time I'm posting a question here so if I put it in the wrong place I'm sorry about that.

Unfortunately there is no way to automatically center it, but you can set the default position to be centered by adjusting one manually and then hitting the "Set as style" button ("S" icon) next to the offset fields in the Inspector. And when adjusting manually, use the Inspector or keyboard (e.g., Ctrl+Up/Down with center handle selected to move in 1 sp increments) rather than dragging - it is both more efficient and more precise.

Once you have the default set to look good, you'll only need to adjust further on those staves where there is extra space added between staves to avoid collisions etc.

If you continue to have trouble, please attach your actual score rather than a picture and then we can understand and assist better.
