audio

MuseScore allows audio sporadically in Windows 10. I have tried all types of attempts to repair to get audio. Some times it works perfectly and is a great program. Other times "synthesizer" and "mixer" are grayed. Preferences In/Out will show only "jack", no midi microsoft gs wavetable synth or coolsoft. Soundfonts are in the Musescore list of files, but do not show up in the program.

I have set audio to be "compatible". My computer has Realtek audio. Device Manager says it is working properly, but it is not. Device Manager also shows microsoft gs wavetable synth as working properly, but it does not show in preferences. I have gone through as many audio fix steps as I have been able to find online. Sometimes a fix works until I close the program, but MuseScore returns to not working next time it is opened. I have tried reinstalling Windows 10 on my computer, which deleted most of my programs, but did not resolve the audio problem,

When it is working, MuseScore is a great program. Any clues as to how to get it to run consistently on Windows 10? Any additional information I can give to help resolve the problem?

As you know, any external audio devices, midi keyboards, bluetooth headphones or speakers, and usb devices must be plugged in and turned on before starting MuseScore. If any of them are turned off or unplugged while MuseScore is running, you will need to make sure they are back on and restart MuseScore. Sometimes you have to check inn Control Panel/Sound to make sure your device is set as default.

"Soundfonts are in the Musescore list of files, but do not show up in the program."

What does this mean? What list of files are you talking about? Where don't they show up in the program? The manual has instructions on how to install fonts.

If you do not have some kind of score open, the mixer and the synthesizer and the play panel will be grayed out.
