I've seen, on another forum ?, that this was a problem with an earlier version but could see a user fix

sorry,, could NOT see a user solution
First of all update to 3.6.2, whether that fixes this issue or not.
Then explain the issue better, what is cut off and where exactly, how does it look (screenshot)?
(A workspace is not what you seem to think it is, it is not just the palette, it also is the menus and the toolbars)
I'm kind of guessing you simply mean, you have added more instruments than fit on the page. Yoyu need a bigger page, or smaller staff size. Both settings are in Format / Page Settings.
If you mean something else, you'll have to explain in more detail.
BTW, note 3.5.2 is an earlier version; the current one is 3.6.2.

Thanks, I've downloaded and installed the 3.6.2 version and I'm actually not looking at a page of notation. I'm looking at the screen you get when you choose Parts from the File menu. The view (which is zoomed out) on the notation page is as small as I can get it. I am sure there are control buttons below the two boxes to affirm your choices.
I don't see anyway to make a screen shot. I set the page size to Letter and have only two instruments on the page I am attempting to edit.

So you have a dialog that is to big for your screen, right? If so likely MuseScore didn't correcly detect your screen setting, like it often does for example on a TV screen. You'd need to use the -D commandline option and tell MuseScore which DPI setting to use
