More than General MIDI: Please implement GS.

I think there should be a seperate instruments.xml file with instruments from Roland GS and there should also include a GS soundfont by default.

First, have you actually added it to MuseScore?
If not, follow these steps:
1. Go to View>Synthesizer>Fluid.
2. Click Add.
3. Select the correct soundfont (assuming that it's in the MuseScore soundfonts folder, it should show up).

To change the sound:
1. Press F10 to open the mixer.
2. Select the instrument/part you want.
3. Open the Sound dropdown menu.
4. You should see a lot of sounds, starting with Grand Piano.
5. Scroll down until you see Grand Piano again. This will be the beginning of the second soundfont in the Synthesizer list.
6. Select whatever soundfont you want.
If you can't see the Sound dropdown, click the down arrow button below Play Part Only.

I hope I explained this well.

OK, I understand. Then I suggest to add more instruments to the instruments.xml file (at least all GS/XG/GM instruments, including sound effects) and introduce a system which automaticly removes instruments that don't have sounds assigned to them in the soundfont.

As a sidenote: you are free to create an additional instruments.xml that is GS compatible and load it as the 2nd instruments file via preferences. For you, this file could be the GS file, for others it will be "required" to follow a different standard.

What "instruments" do you feel should be added? Sound effects aren't instruments, they are sounds played by a synthesizer. The synthesizer is the instrument, the various sound effects are just sounds that the synthesizer is capable of creating. Unless you're literally planning on hiring a "Goblin" to play your score :-), you don't want an instrument called Goblin, you want an instrument called "Synthesizer", and you then you assign the Goblin sound via the mixer.
