Can't open Play Panel via F key on Macbook Touchbar

I use the F keys displayed on the Macbook's Touch bar to access features like Palettes, the Mixer and the Inspector. However, while I would expect F11 to show the Play panel, pressing F11 does nothing. I can bring up the Play Panel via the menu at the top, but then I have to dismiss it manually, I can't do it with F11.

Different keyboards send controls differently, so if the defaults don't work on your particular keyboard, try customizing them in Edit / Preferences / Shortcuts.

Thank you for your adjustments and your comment! It was in fact an issue of Mac by default showing the desktop when pressing F11, so disabling that in Mission Control solved the issue. I had MuseScore on its own desktop, so it didn't visibly change anything and that contributed to my confusion. But that solves this issue.
