Key Signatures and Percussion
Hello, when I try to add a key signature to a percussion part that starts out as non-pitched, but then switches to a pitched instrument, the key signature will not appear, but it appears for other parts like Trumpet, Flute, etc., is there a fix to this? or will I have to write my score in non-pitched percussion only and pitched percussion only?

As per #304902: Pitched percussion note input not working switching between pitched and unpatched simply isn't supported

This wasn't supported back when this issue is filed, but as far as I know it is now. Works for me. Just add the appropriate Instrument Change. However, depending on the specifics of where the instrument changes and key signatures are actually added, you may or not see the key signature by default. Some amount of fiddling might be required. For instance, you might need to set the staff in general to display key signatures in staff properties, or you might need to explicitly add the key signature to this staff (hold Ctrl while adding).
For the OP - if you attach your score, we can see what is going on and advise further.

Thank you. 4½ years later I had the same issue. 😊

On the score attached, I was trying at measure 4 to change from Xylophon (pitched instrument) to Holzblöcke (woods blocks) unpitched, by using the "change instrument" of the "TexT" Palette and I did not get the expected result. i.e.
On measure 4 the percussion key and a staff with only 1 line should appear. The change of the sound is correct. I assume that the implementation is not jet fully completed or the idea was just to have only something like "changing the sound locally" for some measures. In any case the possibility to change from pitched to unpitched with the characteristics of the new instrument seems not jet to be supported.

The instrument change handles most details of the playback and the notation, but to change number of staff lines, you also need to add a staff type change from the Layout palette.
