Problem with cross-stanza hairpins and cresc
I'm unable to get a hairpin to go cross stanza (from the last right measure of the top stanza to the first left measure of the bottom stanza). I was thinking that there has to be a solution for this. It seems like a common need. Maybe there is a way to do it but I just haven't found it yet.

It is not clear to me exactly what you are trying to do, but I think this may help https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/hairpins#adjust-length. This tells you how to extend the length of a haripin. If you continue to extend it past the end of a system the hairpin will continue from the rightmost measure to the leftmost measure at the start of the next system.
Note that by default hairpins are constrained to be horizontal, but if you select one you can "allow diagonal" in the "line" section of the inspector.
If that is not helping with your problem, please come back here and explain it in more detail.

When I extend it past the edge of the system, it does not move to the next system, rather it continues to the next page. Could this be a bug?

Rather a sign of you doing it wrongly. Read that handbook page, again.

When i select a hairpin, SHIFT+ Arrowkey right (multiple times) continues the hairpin to the right and also beyond linebreaks/systems/pages.

Odd! It works OK for me. The only way I can make the hairpin extend beyond the end of the system is to drag the handle with the mouse.
Does the hairpin extend as expected before it reaches the end of the system when pressing SHIFT+Right?
Have you tried reverting to factory settings?
Other thoughts:
Perhaps there is something different about our installations. What OS? What version of MuseScore? What localisation/keyboard layout?
Or perhaps this is just a problem that shows up with a particular score or subset of scores. Please attach a score where you experience this behaviour.

Could be a corrup[tion in that score. We'd need you to attach it and describe more precisely how to reproduce the problem (eg, which hairpin to select) in order to assist further.
