Entering melisma's
Studio version 4.5.1 in Windows 10. When entering melisma's using the shortcut (underscore _ ), the melisma first displays but then disappears when space is entered to move to the next syllable. When playing the song however, the melisma does act correctly. Is this normal?

A melisma has no playback effect whatsoever. This is true of all lyrics and related symbols.
If the space between the notes is small, the underscore can be reduced to having a zero length. As an experiment, make a lyric syllable extend over an entire measure (on a whole note) or more and see whether the underscore displays or not.

Yes, I see what you mean - both entries have melisma's after the 'aaa'.

From looking at your picture, if you need to show the (missing) melisma...
Click on the 'aaa' then press Ctrl+left arrow.

For finer control, click on the 'aaa' and press the left arrow 4 (or more) times

I don't think so, had it a melisma (you'd need _ twice), it'd be left aligned to the note, not centered under the note
