Which version of MuseScore are you running? On which Operating System (Windows? Mac?)
Could you attach here your *.mscz file?
It's normal and correct that these old-style pedal marks (with "Ped" and "*" as opposed to the more modern "___/___" style) don't show lines. Visibility of the line itself is deliberately disabled in the Inspector. if you are trying to create a hybrid of old and modern styles that includes, you can simply turn the "line visible" property back on.
