Why am I entering edit mode instead of normal mode?
I'm going through my score to respell pitches in order to adjust harmony, and when I click on a note to change the pitch, half of the time it seems to be entering "edit mode" where it wants to adjust the placement of the note on the staff without adjusting the pitch. I don't know what I or the program is doing to enter this mode instead of the normal mode where you're able to adjust the pitch. How can I turn this feature off? I don't remember this happening in previous updates of MuseScore. Here is my version information:
VOS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2.548021803, revision: 3224f34

You get into edit mode via double click.
...half of the time it seems to be entering "edit mode" ...
Try a different mouse, yours could be failing (with inadvertent double clicks).
Also, you don't say how you're trying to adjust pitch, but if you're trying to drag, that's always kind of error-prone as it's easy to accidentally double-click. Much easier to use the Up/Down cursor keys. But it's still the case if you accidentally double-click, they'll adjust position.
And as mentioned above - none of this has changed in years. If you're seeing this happen more now than before, perhaps you recently changed the double-click speed in your mouse settings? Or indeed, the click sensor in the device itself might be failing.
