File -> Save
to save the project.

The program will freeze for several seconds and turn white and the cursor turns into the loading animation (indication of Windows that a program isn't responding) before being reactivated back to normal state.

In order to investigate, we would need you to attach the score with the delay. Large scores would be expected to take a little time. but some scores contain corrupts that might need to be cleaned out. Also be sure to say which version of MuseScore and of Windows.
