Project
  1. Connect Yamaha CLP to Mac (Catalina) via Bluetooth MIDI
  2. Set MS Output to BT MIDI
  3. Select MIDI Sound = "Grand Piano"
  4. Play Score - this works fine
  5. Change MIDI Sound = "Violin"
  6. Play Score - Still plays a piano

Trial and error shows that some "Sounds" play (e.g. "Church Organ" is an organ sound - but usually not as expected. So the CLP Piano has a set of Sounds it can play but these do not map to the MIDI Instruments listed in Sounds in MS and I can't work out what the cross mapping is.

I am not sure what MIDI Number is output for each "Sound" in the list (is there a way to find out - is it 1-128 in order?) Complicated by the fact that the Instruments sounds listed in the CLP MIDI Manual are "obscure" to say the least (attached). I suspect I need a Soundfont, but this is way beyond me.

I basically just want to be able to select Sound "Violin" (or a string sound) rather than "Piano". But short of trying each Sound in turn and hoping I recognise it, I seem to be stuck.

Any help appreciated.
