Can't retrieve file
So I had completed a piece for a string quartet and saved it when before I shut down my computer. When I tried to open my piece back up the next day, this popped up and I can't even view the file at all. Any ideas as to how to fix this and get my piece back???

I guess you stumbled accross #297613: File save can't determine file type without extension (if you are on Linux) and saved the score without the extension ".mscz".
So rename the file in a was that is ends with that extension.
Then use the workaround mentioned in that issue to prevent this from happening again:
untick Edit > Preferences > Advanced > ui/Application/useNativeDialogs
