8va alta placement problem

• Mar 18, 2022 - 04:56

Yes, I know that I could do this measure without 2 voices, ... but lets say I wanted it as it is.

I cannot get the 8va alta to include the fermata note, but not include the last two 16th notes.

If I just select the last 6 notes of the whole note run and select the 8va alta line, the anchor includes those last two sixteenth notes in playback. If I click on the alta line and do a "shift-left" once it still catches the first of the last two 16th notes. If I do the "shift left" again, it moves the anchor to the left of the fermata note and thus doesn't include it.

Hmmmm, I don't see a fine adjustment for the 8va alta line. Another way to do this? (and again, I know I could notate it differently).

thx

It's a tricky situation and I'd definitely recommend considering a different notation as it's likely to confuse anyone reading it. But, you can certainly just adjust the endpoint manually - click it and use the cursor without Shift. The playback will still include the final notes because the ottava technically does include them, but you could enter those notes an octave lower then use the "Fix to line" property in the Inspector to make them appear on the line you have them.
