This is a known issue with the AirPrint driver for HP - see #316152: Some characters do not print from Leland on certain printer drivers on Mac, including the workarounds suggested there (connecting directly, changing fonts, etc).
Experiencing the same issue, and yes, with HP printer at work. It prints all fine on Brother printer at home.
