No Audio Devices available

• Apr 11, 2022 - 13:11

Hey all!

For the last 4 months, I couldn't play sound (or select an audio device) in MuseScore 3, so I posted this:

https://musescore.org/en/node/327204

to no avail.
I am getting a bit desparate, as I've tried everything now except completely resetting my Laptop.

I did:
Restart (duh)
Reinstall Musescore (a couple of times, including 2 software updates which did not resolve the problem)
Reset PRAM (several times over the last couple of weeks)

The "Synthesizer" and "Mixer" tabs from the drop-down menu are greyed out.
I tried installing a SoundFont, but as I can't access the Synthesizer, this didn't work either.

Possible connection: Audacity has an Error where I can't record Audio (Error -9997 invalid sample rate), which seems suspicious. Couldn't resolve this one either.
I also use a lot of different audio/MIDI applications (Reaper, Logic, Max, RX8, Dorico...) which all run perfectly fine.

I'm glad for any advice I can get! Thanks in advance.

You probably already saw these in Audacity

Mac: In Finder, choose Go > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup.app. In "Audio Devices", select in turn the required Recording and Playback devices. Set "Format" to the same sample rate, bit-depth and number of recording channels as in Audacity.

-9997 Invalid sample rate: make sure that you have matched the sample rate in Audacity with that set on your device - both for playback and recording

Everything is grayed out with a score open?
