Changing MIDI sound for instrument

Hey,
I'm writing a drum solo for a jazz piece I'm doing for my college course. In the rest of the piece, I'd like the drums to play with sticks (using the 'standard' MIDI drum kit sound), but for the solo, I'd like the sound to change to the 'Brushes' kit. Tried an instrument change marker, but couldn't see an option to change the MIDI sound of an instrument, just the instruments themselves...
