When trying to edit a staff, it doesn't seem I can do it as described in the documentation. Reading https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/tablature#by-changing-staff-type I see:

"Right-click on the staff and select Staff/Part Properties…"

But in practice this option is only available if I click on the instrument's name. That option does not come up when I right-click on any other area. When there's only one instrument, the name is not displayed, so the option doesn't seem reachable at all.

Changed description to "not possible" since I can't see any workaround and I can't find this option in any menu.

What Operating System, what exact version of MuseScore?
Right-click into (an except for staff lines empty spot of) a staff and from there getting to Staff/Part properties is such a fundamental thing that I can't imagin this not to woek on any (supported) OS or MuseScore version.

Ok, this is a bit of a facepalm moment. I right-clicked on the bar line, on the clef, on the time signature, on some other things... but apparently never clicked in any bar itself. I did spend lots of time trying! and found only the instrument title to have it.
I understand it's my mistake, but for a better UX, it would be great if the stave properties were available when right-clicking those elements too.
(using OS: Fedora Linux 35 (KDE Plasma), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2, revision: github-musescore-musescore- )

Those elemente have their own set of properties
Anyway, this issue has been solved (and being none ;-)), feel free to open another as a Suggestion (AKA feature request)
Meanwhile I've clarified the handbook page
