"." not producing dotted notes, instead producing diminuendo

Download and open latest Musescore 4 build

1) create a note
2) press the period button (".")
3) instead of note becoming dotted, there is not a diminuendo hairpin

This has happened without fail for me. I am operating on two different macs. (One the trashcan from 2013, One the 2020 air, both on MacOS monterey, with default keyboard settings. It's easy to press the dot button, but it's annoying when I'm used to pressing the period and getting my dot.)
