Play Panel does not appear
I click on F11 and the Play Panel does not appear. Neither does it appear if I click on Display->Play Panel. However, in the menu, the checkbox changes. I am on Ubuntu 9.10. Please email steve@hiresteve.com if I can provide anything else that would be useful, or to tell me if I am stupidly missing something obvious.

I'm not sure if this answers your needs but, at various times in the past, I have had a similar situation which was resolved when I realized that the window was open on the desktop, but was not on top.
I'm on XP.

Do you have playback when you press Play button in the transport bar?
If not, in Edit->Preferences->I/O, Choose Portaudio/Alsa/Pulse

Unfortunately this didn't help. I have no idea why this wouldn't make sound, like any other app. :-(
