merging parts into 1 stave not working
I have tried multiple times to find 'voices' in musescore, it simply does not exist.
I have closely followed all musescore instructions:
- click on note in 1st staff
- click on edit to find voices - no voices option appears in edit

In which musescore instructions did you find those steps?
To merge parts from separate staves onto one staff, you probably want Tools / Implode. See the Handbook section on Tools for more info. You can then optionally run it a second time to merge the voices. Not sure what instructions you were looking at, but there is nothing about voices in the Edit menu. Maybe there was many years ago, before it moved to Tools? Could be some very old documentation.
