Hi!

I am using Lilypond to typeset a document in LaTeX with music notation.

I use Musescore to generate the scores and then save them as ly files. That way, I can insert the ly file in my LaTeX document using

\lilypondfile{filename.ly}

The problem is that I don't know how to control the ly output of Musescore. For example, how do I control the width? I attach a Musescore file that I saved as ly. When I embed it in my LaTeX document, the PDF attached is created, which shows the problem with the with of the score.

Is there a way to control this from Musecore without having to edit the output ly file?

I am using Musescore version 1.3, Lilypond version 2.18 and Ubuntu 14.04

You don't. And LilyPond export will be gone in the next version of MuseScore, you'd have to use MusicXML export and LilyPond's xml2ly.

LaTex? No, MuseScore produces music, LaTeX processes text. You can generate graphics with MuseScore that can be inserted into LaTeX documents - File / Export.
