In the "New Score" dialog box, changing category of instruments ("Common", "All Instruments", "Pop/Rock", etc.) kicks you out of the family you have selected. If I'm in a family and realize the instrument I need isn't present in my chosen category, this behavior adds an unnecessary mouse click.
Also, I can't report a bug for Musescore 4.0; I can only report for 4.x-dev or for 3.6.
