Changing the default palette scale makes the contents of palettes disappear

Open Preferences - Advanced
Set application/paletteScale to a number higher or equal to 4

The set number won't save and will be set to 0 after each restart. This causes the following problems:
The contents of the palettes either disappear or not render correctly (like extremely large symbols that won't fit in the palette grid).

Trying to manually change back doesn't work at all and it resets after each restart anyway.
Resetting the palette settings to default only fixes the selected palette. Temporarily.

The only possible workaround is to restore all settings to default. It fixes the problem, but there's no way to make palettes larger at all because of this problem right now.
