When I print a .mcsz file directly from MuseScore, it will always print way too many copies. For a 2 page .mcsz score that I printed yesterday, it printed 20 pages. This happens every time that I print.
If I export as a PDF file before printing, it prints normally.

A known issue and should be fixed for the next version.

Workaround is to export to pdf and then print the pdf as you have found.
And #341823: Musescore 4 prints more copies than asked for
