How to enter small alternate notes in MuseScore 4?
I want to enter small alternate notes, a common feature in last-century pop, e.g. as for the syllable "bove" in the vocal line in the attached. In MuseScore 3 there was a "Small" option in the Chord section of the inspector. I haven't found an equivalent in MuseScore 4. I found the small notehead option in properties, but I haven't found a way to shrink a flag, or (what would be better) a note as a whole. Is there a way to do this in MS 4? Thanks!

Different voice, chord (not note) set to small (and probably also disable playback)

That's what I did in MuseScore 3, and it worked. I'm trying to do the same in MS 4, but I can't find where to set the chord to small. Where is that control?

Ah, I just found it! It's called "cue size" now. Setting "cue size" to on shrinks the entire note.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are trying to do, but this is how I do the small, optional notes for vocalists. I don't have to switch voices at all.
Optionally, as others have said, you can set the note to not playback, although I usually want to hear it, since I'm writing choral music, and I know at least some of the men and women will sing the optional notes.

The original example showed the small note on a separate stem, so reproducing that would require voices. And of course, you need multiple voices if the rhythms differ. But indeed, in your example here, not needed.
