Help where to start on the most basic features

I am sure information exists already but new so not sure where to look so I can find it yet. I bought book Music Reading for Guitar the complete method as I have decided I should learn to read music. am learning notes:

EGBDF on strings and FACE in spaces and I found cool word app to download and print sheet music or I guess the correct term is "blank staff paper" sorry very new to all the terminology.

Then I decided I bet there is a way to write the simple notes I attached a copy below. Right now just looking for simple features. Perhaps some direction pointed to other post on the basic use I got a blank sheet up and then was trying to put notes in but could not find a delete for them so had to use undo and it shows quarter notes not the singles which probably don't matter but not sure.

I have not even gotten to learning stage of the book yet as I think those are quarter notes without the little staff on them as I know what a whole note is. I know guitar tab but I think this music reading is a bigger part of the learning journey and more mature musician.

At the top left of the MuseScore screen you should see "Home", "Score", and "Publish". Click on "Home" and then "Learn" (in the left column). Look for 'Setting up your Score" and "The Basics of Score Writing".
Welcome aboard.

There are an endless # of scores available in the musescore.com sheet music repository. An option for you, would be to find some simple score(s), download them to your computer, load them into the MuseScore program, then experiment.
