  1. Improperly close Musescore 4 (either by force closing with Task Manager or turning your PC off via power button)

  2. This is all I hadd to do to get my scores removed from Musescore 4.

Details: Most of my scores are still saved in Musescore 3, but I have been trying to write within Musescore 4. When my laptop died and I rebooted, I got what was essentially a "blank" Musescore 4. By that, I mean as if I hadd just downloaded it. I was given a prompt (Musescore quit unexpectedly, would you like to resume prior session etc.), but I declined. Then I was given the prompt for when you just install Musescore 4 (Choose your theme etc.) I cannot find my files that I originally created on Musescore 4 nor do I have any recent files (the option is grayed).
Please let me know if any other details are needed. Thanks!

Closing MuseScore won't ever delete any of your files. Any files you saved is still right there on your computer in the exact same folder you saved it to. So simply navigate to that folder in File / Open and open the score.
