Audio Output does not change when program is open

I had Musescore 4 open then I plugged in my headphones but the playback audio from the app stayed on the default system output (main computer speakers). I tried manually changing the output via windows sound settings and still nothing. The audio output didn't change until I shut down and re-opened the program while my headphones were still plugged in.
