MIDI Playback
Am I missing something with MIDI Output in Musescore 4? The only place I can find to set this is in the preferences in the I/O section. It will let me select any of the MIDI instruments I have set up in my system's Audio Midi Setup (Mac). But how do I actually get the score to playback using the selected instrument in the preferences? Shouldn't it be in the Mixer palette--> Sounds?

The Mixer doesn't know anything about your external devices - only about SoundFonts, VST instruments, and Muse Sounds. If you want to select specific sounds on your external MIDI device, you'd have to use whatever controls it provides.

Yes, I know my device can select sounds / midi channel and so forth. Maybe I wasn't clear. There are no midi events being output from Musescore. I have the external device selected in the preferences but when I play the score no midi events are being transmitted to it so what I was asking is there some other setting somewhere to interface Musescore with the external device, like usually there is at least somewhere to select the midi channel to transmit on. I know it's all connected proper as my DAW (Digital Performer from MOTU) is connecting to the device just fine and the device receives midi events from it.

Hmm, certainly it should be sending MIDI events if you've selected a device for MIDI output - are you sure it isn't? Could be the issue is more about the receiving device not being set up to listen for them correctly.
