i opened up musescore 3 one day, and i played a note on my MIDI. musescore then put down a simalur sounding note that wasnt the note i played. i tried upgrading to musescore 4, but the issue kept happening. i cant really use musescore anymore. does anyone know how to fix this?

If you mean you press the black key between G & A and want MuseScore to spell if G# but instead you got Ab, welcome to MIDI :-). This is simply not something it is designed to handle, so MuseScore needs to guess. For accurate spelling of notes, typing on your computer keyboard is more efficient, But if you wish to let MuseScore guess via MIDI, you can always change the spelling with "J".

If it's a transposing instrument like clarinet or trumpet, though, see the previous response - it's normal and correct that these instruments sound different from written. Also check to be sure your keyboard itself isn't set to transpose.

If you continue to have trouble, please attach your score and explain the problem in more detail.
