Problems "Mu4
Chromebook/linux. Mouse/click
Thought I would explain my recent post on why MU4 is worthless. I know this will not matter since this is only happening to me, apparently. I therefore will put this all in one post. Do not ask for score since previously I showed an attachment on my end, but nothing showed up at the other end. And since only one issue even required adding a note, it is not necessary.
Here goes: these are just the annoying things
1. small font size in some menus. I have been given options for fixing this, but at the moment it's not worth the time.
2. double notes/chords at various moments. Mu3 was/is bad about double notes, but Mu4 goes to a new extreme. Chords pop up multiple times. This means stopping to edit out things not placed. Waste of time. I only added about 50 notes in one score and this was regular occurrence. Might get used to what is happening, but Why?
3. accidentals menu above working score. Forget the proper name. Since I use the natural sign often, I went to click there,(more later) none of the signs will click in without first turning off note entry mode. A tiresome process just to enter accidentals.
Now the ridiculous issues!
4. pallette menu on left of score. Since I was having issue using accidentals above score, I just opened the accidentals menu in pallette.(which 'is' what I do in Mu3) Click....Nothing. Just white with some fine/thin lines forming cubes about the size of a dice. I did find if I hovered the pointer over a square it would show what was in the box. This was true for everyone of the menus I opened. Not workable to get anything done!!
5. the topper... master pallette in view menu. Since nothing was working I just decided I would open the master pallette and get access to anything I might need. Not desirable with the menu always open, but it was best chance to get any work done, I thought. Clicked view(not easy finding/clicking correct item) menu dropped down(font size good) and I clicked master pallette ....Poof....closed out! Not a crash as I see in Mu3. No strange number file,(when I reloaded) just... gone! Back to chrome opening screen. New way to quick close Mu4.
That was enough. Back to Mu3. Clicked the icon in the shelf and...Nothing. I was told that Mu3 and Mu4 would be fine together, not for me. Only one could be installed at a time. I found this out as I tried to reload Mu4 after I finally got Mu3 reinstalled, and back and forth. I battled Mu4/Mu3 for couple weeks. With the obvious and serious problems I experienced with Mu4...this is why for ME Mu4 is worthless.

I get it.
But I recall people answering you that they didn't have the same problems you are having.
I get that it might be wiser for you to use MU3 instead. But what bothers me is that it seems like there is something wrong with your system. Although it doesn't make much difference if you are happy with MU3

You must be thinking about someone else. Noone has said anything other than mentioning thoughts for tiny fonts, most of which did not help. Have one yet, I might try, but at the moment as I said...Why? Mu2, mu3 as well as other programs are working , viewing fine. Mu4 is not yet, there is something wrong with My system? When one of several is the problem why the system? I will continue with 3 for now, but was truly wishing to use the improvements in mu4. With what little I did experience in Mu4 it seemed to be very good. Just toooo many major issues to make it worth trying! Thanks for the thought.

Sorry. I wouldn't pretend to know anything about how to get MU4 running on a Chromebook. Except that there are those that have it working. Are you certain it meets all the specs?
But then, as you say, nothing wrong with sticking with MU3.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Have been waiting to see if anyone else would respond? NO! Thought someone might make a comment, offer a suggestion or even ask question(s) about one of the two major issues. Nope... Nothing. If you have an issue with using a feature there are many responses, but if it's something with the program.... too bad, so sad, good luck....hope you can figure it out! Play around with it! (As if I am a programmer? )As to your wondering about specs, my system is only a couple years old. I had to lower the resolution to lowest dpi just to make it 'small' or large enough to almost read the top menus. Now if there might be something with the chromebook version of linux, I would not have the slightest idea. But, that is my thought. Though, again others are ,apparently, using it. Since I mouse click in and I was told sometime ago over 90% type in there music, that is another issue I wonder about. Anyway fixing the size of a couple menus in the program window does nothing to help 'blanked out' pallette menus or the biggy, clicking a menu item in the view menu shutting down the program...not crashing...just shutting down! And I really do not think there is anything with my system specs doing that.
So, again I am sorry MU4 will not function on my system. Why for me it is worthless. I was truly looking forward to giving it a run. And since there appears to be no interest, I doubt it may ever happen. Thanks again for your thoughts and comment, greatly appreciated!!

One last thought. I notice that there are three different downloads available that say they are suitable for all Linux distributions.

Guess I missed that third one. I was in and out of mu4 and mu3 4 or 5 times. I know I tried the 'for all' and the 64 bit 'recommended'. Guess I have not noticed any others for any linux version. The other 2 worked exactly the same with all issues. Would have to wonder if any other is written that differently? Will have to check again when I have time to experiment! Thanks again for the thought. It is something to think about.

If I had a chrome book, I would experiment to try to help. The best I might be able to do is launch from a USB stick. But I don't know if that is anywhere near the same. A few year ago I tried Ubuntu for a while. But I gave up on it as not very user friendly at the time. Any way, Good luck.

Thanks for another good thought. This is something I have wondered about for sometime. I was thinking of loading another linux to my chromebook. The usb was/is another idea. As I have looked into things, it is way more involved than I wish to take upon. All the help examples I have found require another computer (mac/win) to load or install. Nothing I have found yet mentions chrome. Since that's all I have and I am not really interested in risking messing something up on my working system/files, I am still back where I have been with MU 4. NOWHERE! Nice thought, though. If you try linux again I would recommend linux mint as a better option. It is mostly rated as the best/first choice. It has a musescore load/install option from os!
Thanks again for good suggestion.
