Shrink bar width manually
I've got one system with one bar that's stretched over the whole page and another system that contains only one bar. I can't get system breaks to work. This is MuseScore 3, btw., I'm on an older Mac. Please look at the screenshot and give me a hint how to merge these two systems... please?

Difficult to tell much from a picture. The score itself (.mscz file) will let someone see what settings are in force.
Adjusting the settings (page size, margins size, score spacing, etc.) or adding system breaks earlier in the score to even out the number of bars per system should get you where you want. Try experimenting.

Sorry, I can't get this to work. There are too many settings I don't know what to do with. The additional problem is that my system is in German so the app is all in German, but all the help is in English, so I have real problems finding the menus and dialogs. Could you tell me what the setting is called that controls the maximum width a bar may have?

OK, I fixed it... I inserted a few bars, then deleted some, and suddenly the whole score reformatted itself nicely. Now the 4/4 is in the middle of a system and the two single bars are the first two in the rearranged system.

Yes there are many settings that can be adjusted. As I said, if you attach the score - the .mscz file, someone can see what settings you are currently using and suggest modifications. That can't be done by looking at the picture of the score you attached.
However, there are some odd things in that picture - the empty last stave, the vertical offset of the time signatures, Again other than telling you they look odd, there is no way of telling why they look odd without seeing the .mscz file. So your next step should be ... attach the .mscz file.
