MuseScore 4.2 often closes during operation
I am working on a large orchestral score. A lot of material needs to be copied from one instrument to another. Sometimes the copying succeeds, but often the program closes and the last entries are lost. (macOS 13.4)

Opening (and some actions, entering notes, launch playback) just works fine here (Windows 10, 4.0.2)

If another user can open the file successfully, this hints that maybe your computer is struggling with lack of memory or lack of disk space. Carefully check your computer's specification against the System requirements at the end of the Download page:

For large orchestral scores I always break the work into sections to avoid a slowdown of my workflow. Perhaps this approach will help in your case? Go back to an earlier (smaller) version of your score, and start a new section as a new score from that point.
Assuming you mean 4.0.2...
