MuseScore 4 will not open. "_Empty.mscz is corrupted and cannot be opened."
Hi--MuseScore 4 will not open. When I try to open it, the MuseScore icon appears on the Windows 11 toolbar and when I click on it I get the error message "_Empty.mscz is corrupted and cannot be opened." The Everything file finder cannot see _Empty.mscz on my computer.
The trouble started when I tried to have two instances of MuseScore open simultaneously. When I try to open MuseScore now, the only thing that opens is part of the play panel from this last session.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled MuseScore 4 twice, and restarted the computer twice, but this does not solve the problem. Assistance would be appreciated.--MFN

Reinstall almost never solves MuseScore issues.
Help > Revert to factory settings much more often.
In this case though it won't magically fix a corrupt score.
But attach it here, maybe it can get repaired

Thanks for your quick reply. I have made progress: the failure of MuseScore to open was apparently due to a Windows bug related to pinning MuseScore to my task bar. Removing it permits the program to open. But I still get the message that "_Empty.mscz is corrupted and cannot be opened," and I cannot find this file to submit it for your inspection. Perhaps MuseScore can't find it and then issues the misleading corruption message. Where should I look for it?
Changing the subject, within the Forum there is a search box for sheet music, but none for searching the Forum itself for posts related to a particular problem. For example, I would like to look for posts that mention "_Empty.mscz" or that were authored by me ("mfn"). How can I perform such searches?

To search forum topics, look at the menu above for "Download", "Support", "Contribute", "Activity", and notice the search magnifying glass icon. That's what you click for forum searches.

The search box you mention, above "Download," etc, says that it is for sheet music, and I have verified that it only finds sheet music. There does not seem to be a way to search the Forum for words and phrases. If so, this is a notable omission, making it very difficult to find relevant posts and leading to starting of redundant threads.

Not above "Download", but at the right end of this line. To the right of "Activity" is a magnifying glass!

Aha! Great! It was invisible in my Dark Theme. Thanks for your patience.
I still think it is undesirable to have the more prominent sheet music search facility within the Forum.

I agree, and that topic has arisen several times.
