How to hide measures when there are also hidden staves?

• Jul 7, 2023 - 13:05

I have some music going on leading up to the proper score. I have hidden the staves. I also want to hide all the empty measures that show while the hidden staves are playing. I would like the printed score to begin when the main voices come in.
Musescore 3.6.2 (unstable) for Linux

In "Format / Style... / Score" there is an option "Hide empty staves in system" and "Do not hide empty staves in first system".
As far as I know, you cannot hide all staves, you will have at least one empty staff. If your picture shows a piano, the bass system will disappear, the treble system will stay. And you need a system break in the last empty measure.

Why not simply enable multimeasure rests, which is the usual way to show passages where the instrument isn't playing? Also, instead of hiding the other instruments, it's generally better to simply generate the parts from the score, which enables multimeasure rests automatically. Also, you can safely expect problems using any program labeled "unstable" - much better to use the official version you downlaod form this site directly rather than an untrusted third party. Also, hthat version is several years odl with tons of bugs fixed since then, so you might as well get the current version while you're at it.
