Accidentally Deleted Score Saved to Cloud

• Aug 7, 2023 - 18:16

Hi,

I accidentally deleted a score while trying to remove it from my profile (I accidentally published it; I'm only familiar with composing on MuseScore 4, and I'm pretty new to managing my scores on the website), but I unfortunately only saved this score to the cloud so I could work on it on other devices. Is there any way to retrieve that score?

Thanks!

In your Scores folder is an invisible backup folder. Check the manual for more info. You will need to figure out how to make that folder visible.

Thanks; I've found the cloud backup folder and retrieved the copies stored there, but it seems to only have slightly older versions (still way better than nothing and only a day older than my last edit). There's a newer version of my file from around my last edit but it's inaccessible (MuseScore gives me an Invalid Score error); I didn't think the backup would've been affected by the fact that I deleted the score from the cloud, but as of now I'm still unable to open it.

If you say what OS you are on, we can help you find the hidden local folder. On WIndows, it should be something like AppData/Local/MuseScore/MuseScore4/cloud_scores.

Yep! That's exactly where I found them. The only issue is the same one I described in my previous comment; my backups (the hidden files that end in .mscz~) are all accessible after changing the file type, but the only file saved under cloud_scores outside the backup folder (newest version) can't be opened in MuseScore (despite being a .mscz).
