Instruments changed to Voice

• Oct 7, 2023 - 18:44

I've exporting the mscz to a pdf document. And after a new import of these pdf I see that all the instruments are chenged to "Voice".

How can I export all the the info and read back when I import these file.

Who has the tip to do it?

First question: Why are you doing this?

The PDF export is for sharing with others or printing, like a paper sheet. An import does not read the instruments used and you have to reassign the correct instrument and also transpose the notes of transposing instruments (like trumpet in Bb or horn in F) back to the concert key of the score.

The PDF import is meant for the case that you have as template the score only as PDF. And in many cases it leads to incorrect scores that have to be repaired manually.

The best way to exchange with other music notation programs is xml export. Within MuseScore, use only the standard mscz file format for saving. All information is stored in both file types.

Hello, HildeK

I am testing the program. Was curious if the instruments were also packaged with "export PDF" and "Import PDF".

There are 4 instruments for hunting music.

2 Press Hoorn,
and
2 Parfoce Hoorn.

These are not in the general instruments folder.

How should I set up that instrument?

I'm sorry, I don't know what a "Press Hoorn" is - oh, typo, you mean a "Pless Horn". I found the "Parforce Horn" and that can be written in Eb or Bb. The Pless Horn is probably a Bb horn.
In the German language setting of MuseScore, I find about 50 different instruments called horns.
You need to know what kind of horns you are using. There are horns with very different transpositions like horn in C, in B, in A, in D, in E, in Eb, in A, in Ab and of course the normal horn in F. However, most of them sound exactly the same. You can change the name of the staff as you like.

Use "All Instruments" to see more. But I think both instruments are not predefined. But that doesn't matter: choose a horn with the right transposition. Depending on the sound files, there may not be any difference in the sound of MuseScore anyway.
