clarinet in A (or C) in the instrument options. Beams are going across the bar line

• Feb 1, 2024 - 17:23

We have a piece written for Bb Clarinet with 6 sharps and I'm trying to transpose for A clarinet, but can't see that option on the instruments. Also, the same applies to C clarinet in Beethoven 5 as I would like to write that out for Bb

I also seem to have an issue with beams going across bar lines. I have tried using the beam changer for the dotted quaver, semiquaver rest, semiquaver which is repeated for several bars, but it joins them all up together! A bit of a beginner with things like this!! Thanks

Not sure why, but when I typed in Clarinet in the search box before it didn't come up with any options, but this time it has!!! Thanks that's answered my first question. Now I just need to sort out the beams! Thanks very much for your help

Not sure why as I'm using musescore 4.2.1! No I was trying to group dotted quaver, semiquaver rest and semiquaver together as in bar 20 but when I try to do the same grouping in bar 16 and 17, it links them all together which I don't want. Thanks again for your patience

So do you want the layout like this?
Beam_properties.png

  1. Select all the notes which should start a beam, choose "Break beam left" from the Beam Properties palette
  2. Select all the notes and rests which should continue a beam, choose "Join beams" from the Beam Properties palette
