Folder An Organization on New and Recent score pages in the musescore program

• Mar 7, 2024 - 23:54

Hey, I've been composing for nearly a year, currently my scores (in the musescore app) is flooded with projects either done, incomplete or abandoned. I think a folder system would be great in this menu so I can organize my music and find things easier, I also think if would be beneficial to have easier way to delete them from the New and recent scores and to rename them easier. I completely understand if this is impossible as I have no idea how to develop any program or anything,
-Thanks!

I don't think that the developers have the time or funding to develop a folder system for every user's online files.

In the past there was a perfectly viable alternative to folders, because a user could create Sets to hold scores. A score can belong to more than one Set, but a score can only be placed in a single folder.

There used to be two methods of adding your own score to a Set:
a) from the "3 dots" menu of an online score: choose Add to / remove from Set
b) from the button choices for an online score (Download, Print, Share, Send to YouTube etc) :
choose Add to Set

But recently two things have happened:
- first the option Add to / remove from Set stopped working (still a visible option, but does nothing)
- a few weeks later the Add to Set button disappeared completely

So right now the Sets functionality on musescore.com is dead in the water. I fail to understand why this has happened and whether it is deliberate...

The OP had nothing to do with online files.

Ah, I misunderstood.
And in that case, the computer's own operating system provides all the features needed to create, rename, maintain, empty and delete folders - including complex structures of folders and sub-folders.

MuseScore does provide a facility to create a new folder during the Save As process:
